Carriger Creek Challenge Course: natural splendor in the Valley of the Moon
Carriger Creek offers a venue for groups to meet that goes back hundreds of years. The creek's first human visitors were aboriginal groups who came to trade and feast among the trees that lined the creek, and local mythology has numerous stories of the events that happened here.
Fast forward to current times... The creek has remained largely unchanged except for its evolutionary pattern of moving stones. Many of the trees are old growth and are in the process of yielding to the younger trees that will one day replace them.
What we at C4 can provide to current visitors is a shared experience of the land and the ropes course events that our participants do. The shared experience of the land lives on as a continuation from the first visitors. The shared experience of the events- laughing, touching, communicating, aspiring, supporting and reaching up to new levels is an opportunity to experience we have given to hundreds of groups.
The C4 course, adjacent to the Westerbeke Ranch Conference Center in Sonoma, California was completely rebuilt and renovated in 2009 to state-of-the-art Association for Challenge Course Technology standards. Challenge course elements are placed in a series of clearings along the creek, shaded by Oaks, Bay, and Alder. We believe we are continuing to use this beautiful, native California landscape in the manner it has been for centuries. These grounds remain as they've always been, used by the first known inhabitants of the Sonoma valley as a place to congregate, communicate and celebrate the wonder of life and nature.
The course is located approximately one hour from San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento. This property has been in the Westerbeke family since the early 1930's and is now in its third generation, owned by Susan Westerbeke. This gorgeous, lush canyon was the joy of Susan's grandparents for picnicking and recreation, accessed by horseback in its earlier days. Carriger Creek Challenge Course is operated by C4 Consulting in association with Pinnacle Outdoor Adventures who has been using this facility for over two decades.
